Melanotan1

Overview

Melanotan-1 (MT-1) is a synthetic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) that has been studied for its activity at melanocortin receptors, particularly the melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R). Research has examined Melanotan-1 primarily in relation to melanin production, skin pigmentation, and tanning.

Human research has investigated Melanotan-1 in controlled studies of skin pigmentation. Studies have reported increased tanning and increased eumelanin content in human skin following experimental administration. Findings should be interpreted according to the study population, experimental conditions, formulation, and specific endpoints measured.
