Semax
Overview
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from the ACTH(4–7) sequence with an additional Pro-Gly-Pro fragment. Research has investigated Semax in relation to neurobiology, learning and memory, attention, neuroprotective activity, and cellular signaling in the nervous system
Experimental research has examined Semax in animal models of neurological injury as well as in human studies involving cognitive function and neurological conditions. Research has also investigated effects involving neurotrophic factors such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and signaling pathways associated with neuronal and neuroimmune responses. Findings should be interpreted according to the study population, experimental model, formulation, and specific endpoints measured.
