THE SCIENCE

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide growth hormone secretagogue that has been studied for its ability to stimulate growth hormone release. Research has characterized its activity through the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R) pathway.

MOLECULAR STRUCTURE

Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide with the sequence Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NHâ‚‚. Its structure was developed within a series of growth hormone secretagogues and was characterized for selective growth hormone-releasing activity.

GHS RECEPTOR ACTIVITY

Experimental research has shown that ipamorelin stimulates growth hormone release through a GHRP-like growth hormone secretagogue receptor pathway. Studies in pituitary cells and animal models demonstrated growth hormone release following ipamorelin exposure.

GROWTH HORMONE RELEASE

Research has examined ipamorelin's ability to produce transient increases in circulating growth hormone. In human volunteer research, intravenous ipamorelin produced a measurable growth hormone response with a peak occurring within approximately one hour under the study conditions.

ENDOCRINE SELECTIVITY

  • Preclinical research found ipamorelin to have a relatively selective effect on growth hormone release compared with some earlier growth hormone-releasing peptides. In animal studies, ipamorelin did not produce ACTH or cortisol responses significantly different from those observed with GHRH under the tested conditions.

CLINICAL & PHARMACOKINETIC RESEARCH

Human research has examined ipamorelin's pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics in healthy volunteers, including its relationship to circulating growth hormone. The available literature should be interpreted according to the study population, route of administration, experimental conditions, and endpoints measured.
